Beyond being the proper noun for the eighth month of the year, the term “august” is homonymous, its variant pronunciation being an adjective meaning “of supreme dignity or grandeur; majestic, venerable or eminent.1” It describes something or someone who inspires reverence or admiration, often carrying with it a connotation of majesty and awe. In my mind, an august person is one with gravitas; not your everyday Tom, Dick, or Harry (my apologies to any such named persons reading this!). An august person is not commonplace or typical, rarely making appearances or attending everyday events. Visibility and accessibility to just anyone are antithetical to this individual. An august persona possesses an aura bearing a sizable weight of nobility and an intensity of personality. When they grace an occasion, there is a notable shift in the atmosphere from the ordinary to the outstanding, the mundane to the monumental.
In biblical numerology, the number eight represents newness or fresh beginnings; the advent or initiation of something novel. It is mostly associated with the commencement of things desired or other positive events. Since God is such a dynamic personality and is always on the move with His plans and purposes, He is constantly up to something new.2 I believe that is one of the reasons He gives us a new cycle of life every twenty-four hours. This gives us a chance not only to remediate past mistakes and misalignments, it offers opportunities to align and invest in the new things He’s doing every single day. As routine as daily living can seem, each day brings a treasure trove of renewed opportunities to impact one’s present realities and furnish future possibilities in seemingly big, small, or aggregate ways.

These combined concepts suggest that August is a month of immense potential. It is pregnant with as many possibilities as our womb of faith3 is allowed to incubate via the promises 4 of God’s fertilizing Word5, and can be leveraged to change negative or unrelenting circumstances. His august presence is all we need to complete the equation for positive transformation. Taking advantage of these dual “August” implications is a surefire way of shifting unfavorable atmospheres and causing circumstances to give way6 and give birth to those long awaited expectations!7 This is possible only to those who recognize, rightly respond, and posture themselves.8
Friend, God is always in the business of the new. His royal majesty, supremacy, and sublimity are constantly at work for you.9 He is always willing to show UP and show OUT for those who humbly ask for His help and position themselves rightly to receive it.10 Cash in on August by inviting His august presence into your life and circumstances. Press in for the wonders reserved for this period and begin to birth real-time manifestations of the new!11

“Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.” (Isaiah 43:19; MSG)
