“By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the veil of His flesh …” (Hebrews 10:20)
I have recently and repeatedly been reminded that growth of any kind always requires a stretch beyond current state. The high school student determined to gain admission into an ivy league college must study intensely to expand his grasp and excel in knowledge. The award-winning athlete must maintain a grueling training schedule to perpetuate her championship. The conglomerate striving to become a global brand must remain on the cutting edge of innovative ideas and trail-blazing strategies to upgrade its competitive advantage. An individual passionate about living an impactful life by continuous growth and evolvement must progressively do whatever it takes in each new season to attain that ultimate goal.
Excellence, greatness and preeminent success never happen in places of comfort and familiarity. They always require pushing past previously defined ceilings, barriers, and limits, often physically, mentally, intellectually, relationally, or spiritually. Symbolically, these entail pushing past the veil … often of the flesh; “the flesh” in this context representing limitations. Jesus exemplified this to the utmost by suffering and by sacrificing His body for the rich dividends of transcendent lives – for as many as believe and receive Him.1
There must be a continuous, persistent, and insistent push past the veil of the familiar and the comfortable to get to new heights in God and in the desired areas of life. All pioneers and disruptive innovators and achievers go out on a limb to push past the familiar, the known, the comfortable, the popular, the acceptable, and the safety and security of the status quo to discover and accomplish unrivaled transformative feats. It has often been said that if you want what you have never had, you’ve got to do what you’ve never done!

Friend, are you tired of where you are in life? Do you desire the more God has for you? Jesus made eternal greatness and impact possible through the veil of His flesh! Far beyond the temporal, you can pave your way into the same endless legacy through Him!
If you want it … go get it, you’ve got what it takes!2
