RAISE!

Last week, we discussed God’s fascinating directive at a very critical juncture of His people’s lives. Almost in the same breath, He issued another intriguing instruction: “Lift …!” or, in some versions, “Raise …!“

What was Moses supposed to raise? The simple, unobtrusive stick in his hand. In the second edition of the tongue-twisting title series “Mining the Mystery Merchandise …,” 1 we delved extensively into the history and spiritual ramifications of this simple shepherd’s staff-turned-miracle-working-rod. Before it began to produce miracles, it was the established symbol of God’s delegated authority. It meant Moses (and the people he shepherded) were to use it everywhere and at every point in their journey to effect God’s purposes each step of the way. This Old Testament depiction of the New Testament twin principles “Thy Will Be Done on Earth as It Is in Heaven” 2 and “Forbid on Earth What is Forbidden in Heaven, Permit On Earth What Is Permitted in Heaven” 3 reinforced the fact that they were God’s human representatives delegated to use the tool of His authority to conquer adversaries and establish victory at every phase.

The act of raising the rod symbolized a reliance upon and an active utilization of that authority. Moses and the Israelites were not alone on their journey, nor were they to rely solely on their human intelligence and skills to navigate life’s challenges. They were equipped to subjugate every opposition using the leverage of God’s authority, but that meant actively engaging it and not merely having it as a decorative ornament or commemorative plaque.

Meals, Missiles & Medications

A basic tenet for those who submit to God’s rulership is that they are sustained, preserved, and prevail by God-customized spiritual cuisine, and not merely on physical food.4 God’s spoken (by Him AND His delegates) Word is the tool that enforces the activation and desired results inherent in His authority. God declares His thoughts and plans regarding the matter at hand, His representatives listen, imbibe, and speak the same to the opposing forces or circumstances, and victory ensues. It’s that simple. Each launched (spoken) Word compels concession from every opposition as missiles and medications exact the eradication of enemies 5 and diseases 6, respectively. When strategy demands it, repeated deployment ensures complete obliteration.

Wild With The Brush!

The world and all that it contains were created and structured by the faith-fueled Word of God. Everything visible in our world today was birthed and remains powered by the invisible governing world. (Hebrews 11:3)

Other illustrative Scriptures demonstrate the same underlying theme. God’s written Word, the Bible, reveals His spoken Word as the creative force behind everything that exists.7 The faith-held paintbrush of His Word applied to the canvas of our lives can produce anything imaginable, backed by His authority and revealed Word. As a lover of Jesus and His Word, you get to create every good thing He has purposed and spoken about you.8 If you are sick, weak, impoverished, defeated, or alone, you get to bring heaven’s reality concerning those specific areas onto the canvas of your earth life so you can experience health, vitality, strength, abundance, victory, community, and anything else you need! 9

So go rogue with God’s Word! Raise the rod of His authority by continuously speaking that well-aimed Word to change and direct the circumstances of your life! Run wild with the brush, paint the town (of your life) red – with the Word that compels all that is rightfully yours through the blood price Jesus paid on your behalf! 10
