June Prune

The sixth month of the year is one pregnant with possibilities. It affords great opportunity to pause and assess one’s points of origination, visitation and destination, or in other words, where one has come from, been, and where one is going, as well as evaluating the gains attained in the year’s journey toward goal and destiny achievement.

The number six is symbolically representative of man (as in humanity) in Bible numerology. It is alludes to man’s creation/inception, purpose, fall, characteristics and limitations juxtaposed against the infinite existence and eminence of God, His holiness, perfection and all the limitless possibilities found in Him. It underscores the boundless grace He lavishes upon humanity to cover and compensate for those inevitable constraints that are endemic to his fallen nature.

This month is dedicated to examining some of those human limitations, with a goal of minimizing or eliminating their pitfalls. We accomplish this by careful identification and ruthless eradication and/or obliteration of every sign of their existence or imminence in our lives.

The Bible enjoins us to lay aside every weight and sin that easily besets us as we run the race of life, so we can run unhampered and uninhibited. It further asserts that God’s Word slices and dices, clearly distinguishing that which originates from the mental and/or emotional realm from that which is truly spiritual. It simultaneously discerns and exposes the thoughts and secret heart intentions. John goes further to inform us that every fruit-bearing branch in Jesus’s vineyard will undergo an involuntary process of pruning so it can be even more fruitful.

How can these assertions pragmatically affect our lives and effect the requisite efficiencies for success?

  • We must run uninhibited so we can go the distance, but the only way to successfully achieve that is by getting rid of those negatives that weigh us down and hamper our progress.
  • As fruitful members of God’s vineyard, we will be pruned, whether or not we desire or dread it.
  • The God-ordained and most effective tool for paring down in any area or dimension of our lives is the laser-sharp, double edged, precision-powered Word of God.

Take advantage of the mid-year season to cogitate and reevaluate your process and progress towards the year’s targets. Rid yourself of every untoward “extra” in your life, anticipating and submitting to God’s pruning process. While at it, permit the unfettered Word of God to have unfettered access to every fettered area of your life, thereby liberating, purging and setting you up for success through the next half of the journey.

Allow June to prune you into the shape and form required to take on the rest of the year in grand style – like that glorious star that you are!
