In just a few days, the 2024 United States president-elect will be voted in, a choice that will determine the country’s trajectory over the next four years and beyond. Political agendas in the form of new or revamped laws, policies, plans, and projections, will be implemented by the new government once sworn in.
Similar to other democracies, U.S. citizens enjoy the privilege of choosing who will govern them, but the process is not an easy one. The election period is often fraught with contention, confrontations, and confabulation from opposing candidates, parties, factions, and rivaling media networks. These rally against one another but forge strong alliances with those whose political and sociological views align with theirs. Verbal (and sometimes physical) hostility, aggression, and acerbity characterize many of these campaigns, with assassination attempts made occasionally, as was the case this year. Among the citizenry, it is not uncommon for political debates to degenerate into shouting matches or fist fights; indeed many close relationships have been fractured because of opposing political allegiances. Spuriousness, misinformation, prevarication, and the dissemination of blatant fallacies tend to be prevalent during election events, conversations, and rallies.
A superior kind of election exists that is other-worldly in every regard, particularly because of the One who casts the sole vote. It requires no campaigning whatsoever, is completely peaceful, effortless, and devoid of selfish ambition, personal or political agenda and animosity, and affects the earthly and eternal trajectory of each individual and indeed, all of humanity. It happens before each candidate is conceived,1 and each is guaranteed election into office at birth if they meet the sole requirement – accepting and thereafter living in sync with the God of Heaven and Earth, the Commander-in-Chief of Heaven and Earth’s armed forces – Jesus Christ the Lord.
God’s manual for living, the Bible, is very unequivocal about the fact that everyone is elected by God into a glorious purpose and destiny2. Every person, nation, tribe, tongue, gender, discipline, religious or political background, etc., is cast in the ballot of this election when they are conceived in God’s heart and mind, long before they are birthed on earth. However, they become eligible to resume office only when they receive Jesus as Savior and Lord and walk with Him daily in obedience and fellowship.
Next post, we’ll delve into the behind-the-scenes outplaying of this permanent and superior electoral office and process, the gravity of its import and impact, and the fact that this eternal election is indisputable, unchangeable, and immunizes against its antithesis – rejection. For now, may this sneak preview suffice to tantalize you with the irrefutable fact that you were specially sought out and selected for a great destiny, royalty, God-like purity, uniqueness, and inestimable glory!3 You are supernaturally, permanently, and irrevocably ELECTED – by the most important Being in existence, Whose love-motivated singular vote is the only one that counts!
